Host a Kuddles for Kids day at your school, playgroup or kindergarten in support of children’s cancer research & Kids Cancer Support Group
Kuddles for Kids is an event aimed at inspiring children to help raise funds to support children’s cancer research and Kids Cancer Support Group.
As September is Cancer Awareness month, schools, playgroups and kindergartens are encouraged to allow children to bring their very own special cuddly toy to school for a gold coin donation on Friday 18th of September, 2020.
As a major thank you to the participating schools for their support, Kids Cancer Support Group will send a framed Certificate of Appreciation and a handbook guiding the school on how best to manage a student being diagnosed with cancer.
Statistically, a quarter of kindergarten to year 6 primary schools in Western Australia have experienced or been affected by a young student who has been diagnosed with cancer.
The statistics show that approximately 100 children are diagnosed with cancer annually in WA alone.
The average cost to a family of a child diagnosed with cancer is $500 per week. Treatment can often take up to 6 months, causing many parents to put their jobs, businesses and relationships on hold to ensure quality time is spent with their hospitalised children.
Not only do families have to pay for the treatment but they have the additional costs of medication, food and parking. Therefore, as income comes down and costs elevate, what are there families to do? What kind of support is available?
